Louisa Anne Twamley
Miss Louisa Anne Twamley (also known as Louisa Anne Meredith) was born near Birmingham, England in 1812. She published a few volumes of poetry while still quite young, including Poems and the beautifully illustrated The Romance of Nature. In 1839, she married her cousin Charles Meredith and moved to Tasmania, where she wrote and illustrated several volumes of natural history, including Some of My Bush Friends in Tasmania and Tasmanian Friends and Foes, Feathered, Furred and Finned.
The prints shown here from The Romance of Nature are in superb condition for their age (over 170 years old!), and feature vibrant, all-original hand-coloring.
