This is an original, hand-colored antique botanical print from Louisa Anne Twamley [Meredith]'s The Romance of Nature, 1st edition published in London in 1836.

Miss Louisa Anne Twamley (also known as Louisa Anne Meredith) was born near Birmingham, England in 1812. She published a few volumes of poetry while still quite young, including Poems and the beautifully illustrated The Romance of Nature. In 1839, she married her cousin Charles Meredith and moved to Tasmania, where she wrote and illustrated several volumes of natural history, including Some of My Bush Friends in Tasmania and Tasmanian Friends and Foes, Feathered, Furred and Finned.

Overall excellent with vibrant, original hand-coloring, on paper that is a bright antique white in color.
