Claudia Toutain-Dorbec

Claudia Toutain-Dorbec (1949-) is a contemporary American artist born in Oregon, now residing in the northern mountains of New Mexico, USA, and Burgundy, France. She is a multi-media artist and includes photography, painting, drawing, collage, and sculpture in her work, currently shown at the Downey Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico and at the Kieser Gallery in France. Her interest in botanical subjects is lifelong.

Botanical projects include dried and pressed specimens, photography, and botanical drawings. She completed a major work of approximately 250 images of Southwest specimens in 2008: A Year in the Southwest: An Exploration of the Natural World. Images were taken with a large format 1952 Graflex 4x5" film camera and a large format high definition scanner used like a camera.
